Genevieve Peterka

Genevieve Marjorie Peterka, 96, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, June 1, 2020 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Linnea Papke-Larson officiating under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Genevieve was born July 9, 1923 to Carl and Stena Gladen at Laport, MN. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1942 and attended Northern Business College. She was employed by Bemidji Clinic for many years. On June 24, 1949 she married Leander Peterka in Bemidji; celebrating 70 years of marriage last year. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Leander of Bemidji, daughters, Diane Wright (Dick Jorstad) and Karen MaGaurn both of Bemidji, grandchildren, Jenna Wright of Durango, CO, Anthony Wright of Albuquerque, NM, Carl (Ashley) MaGaurn of Bemidji, and Monaya MaGaurn of Bemidji, great grandchildren, Breanna Wright, Liam, Hudson, and Reagan MaGaurn all of Bemidji, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Zarling, brother Orville Gladen, son-in-law Gary Wright, and her parents.
