Fred Charles Lahman

Fred Charles Lahman, 89, of Hines, MN passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 30 at the Hines Cemetery in Hines, MN and will be open to the public.
Fred was born on September 27, 1931 in Bemidji, MN to Fred & Stella (Johnson) Lahman. He attended school at Carr Lake Elementary in Bemidji. After school, Fred enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska from 1950 through 1952 as a welder. Upon returning home from serving his country, Fred returned to working at the family business – Lahman Well Drilling.
On May 18, 1963 Fred was united in marriage to Marie Elaine Adams and they welcomed 4 children. Fred was a very caring man and loved helping people. He formed many friendships over the years through his well drilling business. He also loved his dogs, the outdoors, fishing, cutting wood and tinkering with whatever needed fixing. He was usually just a phone call away with his pliers in a pocket. Fred loved his family, enjoyed his grandkids immensely, also catching up on the local news with his friends over breakfast at the café in Blackduck.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Karon (Chris) Bensen of Hines, MN, Susan (John) Carlson of Milaca, MN, and Chuck (Diane) Lahman of Walker, MN; 8 grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan Bensen, Alex, Austin (Abby), Quinn (Lily), Breelyn, Blayne and Brenner Carlson; 2 step grandchildren, Joe (Mandy) Holsapple and Katie (Marc) Heuer; and 4 step great-granddaughters, Maelynn, Lillian, Evelyn and Allison.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Mary Lynn; 1 brother, Arnold; and 2 sisters, Jeanne Fraser and Margaret Benning.
Memorials are preferred to the Heartland Christian Academy.
