Dolores Wiggins


Dolores (Weis) Wiggins, 75, of Bemidji passed December 13, 2020 at Sanford Hospital Fargo.

There will be a private family graveside service at Greenwood cemetery in Bemidji.

Dolores was born March 12, 1945 in Bemidji to Ben and Dorothy (Sheffer) Weis. She was the youngest of two children and was raised in Bemidji where she attended grade school at St. Philips School. She attended Mount St Benedict Monastery in Crookston, MN, graduating in 1963. Dolores also attended BSU and completed all her accounting classes along with her liberal Ed classes. She married Jerry Gregg in 1963 and they had two children, Barbara (Gregg) Kennedy and Gary Gregg. After her divorce she met Charles Wiggins at Cedar Service where they were both employed. They were married in 1982. She worked at Cedar Service for 7 years before the plant closed, at which time she went to work as an accountant for Beltrami County Highway Department and after 31 years of employment she retired in 2011. She worked at numerous jobs on a part time basis while working for the Highway Department including Bostwicks, Upper Mississippi Mental Health Center, Northern Psychological Services and the 71 Bar in Turtle River. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, camping, traveling and gardening. She loved nature. She wrote and published two poetry books, “Grandma’s Reflections” and “From The Heart.” She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is a member of the Poets Guild and the Minnesota Highway Accountants Association and an Oblate with Mount St Benedict Monastery.

Survivors include her husband Charles, daughter Barbara (Paul) Kennedy, son Gary (Kari) Gregg, three step-daughters Rita (Mike) Drews, Kim (Robert) Holub, and Shelley (Terry) Ausk, four grandsons Ryan (Sam) Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Kasey Kavanagh and Nik Kavanagh seven step grandchildren, Mandy (Ben) Burk, Teila (Cody) Baxter, Levi (Ali) Drews, Brady (Stacie) Holub, Riley (Ashley) Holub, Danielle (Glenn Anderson) Ausk and Erica Ausk and fifteen step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Dorothy Weis, and her sister Doris McClellan.

Memorials preferred to Mt. St. Benedict Monastery & Great River Rescue.
