Betty Dirk, 78, of Bemidji, MN died peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s at Colleen’s Caring Hands in Bemidji where she was lovingly cared for the last 5 years of her life.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 26, 2021 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She was born November 11, 1942 in Kelliher, MN the daughter of Roy and Oris (Hand) Barkley. She was raised and educated in the Bemidji area; graduating from Bemidji High School in 1960. Betty’s career was spent in the grocery industry. She worked for Red Owl and Luekens as a retail grocer, bookkeeper and personal manager for many years. She married Edwin Peter Dirk on December 22, 1984. She enjoyed horseback riding, raising and competing with her horses. She also enjoyed gardening, loved the lake life and playing games, but mostly spending time with her family and friends. Betty will be remembered most for her sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Dean (Jodi) Dirk of Dent, MN, Darren (Julie) Dirk of San Antonio, TX, and Debby (Gerald) Wisk of Bemidji, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, siblings, James (Barb) Barkley of Pine Bluff, AR, and Mark (Linda) Barkley of Laporte, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Edwin Dirk and her brothers, Roy, Don, and Harland.
