Avis O. Sletten, 86, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

She was born on June 25, 1932, in Bagley, MN the daughter of Victor and Thea (Ysen) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Bagley, graduating from Bagley High School. She attended Bemidji Business School after graduation. She married Arthur Sletten on August 11, 1967, in Bemidji, MN. She worked for the Department of Indian Education, and also worked with the Bemidji and St. Cloud School Districts as an Administrative Secretary. She retired from the Area Learning Center in St. Cloud, MN in 1986. After retiring Avis and Art enjoyed traveling. They visited every state except Rhode Island, and also enjoyed a trip to Australia and New Zealand. Avis loved her family most of all. She beamed at the sight of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She was described by a Great-Granddaughter as "caring, loving, happy, and funny-who could make the BEST apple pie. In addition she enjoyed golf, fishing, Minnesota sports, reading, embroidery, and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Art Sletten of Bemidji, MN, Children, Sue (Charles) Lund of Bemidji, Terri (Tom) Tepley of Brainerd, MN, Sid (Deanna) Sletten of Bemidji, Grandchildren, Brian (Kate) Lund, Lynnea (Andy) Oman, Jennifer (Ryan) Lamberg, Michael Tepley, Matthew (Nikki) Tepley, Michael (Pam) Sletten, and Deborah (Tyler) Bradseth. Great-Grandchildren, Anna, Nicole, Megan, Thea, Claire, Lyla, Evan, Ella, Koral, Cameron, and a new great-grandson due in a couple of weeks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Margaret Thompson, brother-in-law Amos Thompson, and brother-in-law Archie Baumann.
