Alice Wickner Orser
Alice Wickner Orser was born April 18th, 1930 in Bemidji, MN, to Anton and Hannah Wickner. She attended Northern Grade School, graduated from Bemidji High School in 1948, and St. Lucas School of Nursing in Faribault, MN in 1954. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Lutheran Hospital in Bemidji.
She married Rolf Orser Jr., in 1957 and moved to San Francisco where she was employed at San Francisco Children's Hospital until 1969, when the family moved to Rohnert Park, CA, where Alice was active in Girl Scouts and PTA. In 1974, the family moved to Castro Valley CA. In 1977, she started working at Laurel Grove Hospital and remained there until she retired in 1990.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Brian, four sisters (Annie Glick, Alma Grow, Agnes Hickerson and Amanda Grow) and seven brothers (Albert, Axel, Alfred, Arthur, Almer, Ralph and Edward Wickner). She is survived by her husband Rolf, daughter Karen Gilbert, three grandchildren, Andrew Gilbert, Kelsey (Andrew) Jorgensen and William Gilbert and one great-granddaughter, Kenna Alice Jorgensen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alice was an avid reader, a loving mother, a good friend and a very kind person. She will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji, MN.
