Sharon (Geror) Hanks

Sharon Louise Hanks, 67, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

There will be a service at 4pm with a celebration of life following the service until 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Eagles Club in Bemidji.

Sharon Louise (Geror) Hanks was born January 7, 1951 in Bemidji, MN the daughter of Oscar and Verlie (Ward) Geror. She attended Central Elementary and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1969. She met Dennis Keith Hanks when she was 14. They dated and were engaged before Dennis left for Vietnam in 1968. They were married August 28, 1969 and lived in Gulfport, Mississippi where he was stationed. They moved back to Bemidji, MN where they raised three children. She returned to school, attending BSU and NWTC and earned her LPN license. She worked at MeritCare Clinic and the Bemidji School District, taking care of children with special needs. Dennis and Sharon loved to travel and be with their grandchildren. After his passing in 2009, Sharon met Joe McAllister. Sharon retired after 20 years because of health issues, she and Joe were able to travel and have many fun adventures. She loved to travel, go to coffee and lunch with her friends, be with her grandchildren, attending sporting events, and show choir events. She could make friends for life everywhere she went.

She is survived by her mother, Verlie Geror, fianc, Joe McAllister, sisters, DeeAnne (Tom) Moen, Patti (Rick) Berndt, sister-in-law, Pat Hardwig, brothers-in-law, James Hanks, Dick (Rose) Hanks, Rod (Rhonda) Hanks, and Mike Hanks, daughters, Heidi (Rick) Osmundson and Kalsie (Tom) Vanasse, son, Denny (Steph) Hanks, grandchildren, Kristin (Todd Ayotte) Osmundson, Drew Osmundson, Jeffrey Vanasse, Jacob Vanasse, Alexis Vanasse, Taylor Hanks, and Ozzie Hanks, great-granddaughter Kiley Ayotte, step sons, Corey McAllister and Kyle McAllister, and in laws, Dan and Corrine McAllister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Hanks, father, Ozzie Geror, two infant brothers, and sisters-in-law, Darlene and Sharon Hanks, and brother-in-law, Tom Hardwig and Rosie.
