Bemidji man sentenced for selling heroin in Becker County
DETROIT LAKES—Tyler Lance Simon, 29, of rural Bemidji, was sentenced in Becker County District Court on Nov. 21 for felony third-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on Sept. 7, 2016, he sold an undisclosed amount of heroin in Becker County to a confidential reliable informant with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
He has two prior convictions for fifth-degree controlled substance crime, in January 2017.
Simon appeared in court Nov. 21 before Becker County District Judge Jay Carlson, who sentenced him to 27 months in prison, stayed 10 years.
He was fined $500 plus $660 in court fees, and was ordered to serve 124 days in jail, with credit for 124 days served. He must get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations, including aftercare. He was placed on supervised probation for 10 years.
