Motorcyclist dies from injuries suffered in St. Paul crash
ST. PAUL -- A 21-year-old motorcyclist from St. Paul has died after a crash with a car here over the weekend, police said Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Tyrone Jackson Jr. was hospitalized since the Sunday night collision and he passed away Monday night.
After the crash at Maryland Avenue and Hazelwood Street, police took the driver of a Ford Taurus into custody on suspicion of being impaired, “although it will not be clear until we receive the results of blood tests whether chemicals played a role in this crash,” said Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman.
The 26-year-old driver, Macy Robinson, was released from the Ramsey County jail on Monday afternoon, pending further investigation.
The crash happened about 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses and Robinson reported she was driving eastbound on Maryland Avenue and was turning left onto Hazelwood Street when “a motorcyclist driving at a high rate of speed struck the Taurus, sending the motorcyclist over the handlebars, into the air and then down on the street,” according to Linders.
