Gigi Marvin to take part in Women's Expo in Bemidji
BEMIDJI—U.S. Olympian and Minnesota hockey legend Gigi Marvin will take part in the Northern Minnesota's Largest Women's Expo at the Sanford Center on Saturday, May 12.
Officials announced that Marvin will be available for photos and autographs from 10 to 11:15 a.m.
A member of the U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey Team, Marvin scored the first goal in the shootout against Team Canada in the gold medal game at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. A Miss Hockey winner in high school in her hometown of Warroad, Marvin also went on to have a stellar career at the University of Minnesota.
In addition to playing professionally for the Boston Pride and Team USA, Marvin is head instructor of RinkRat 19, a hockey school in Warroad and is also deeply invested in sharing her faith, a release said.
Tickets are on sale now for $5 and are available at the Bob Lowth Ford Pickup Ticket Windows located at the Sanford Center. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. A total of $1 of each ticket purchased will be donated to support women's initiatives through Hands of Action, International and United Way of Bemidji Area.
In addition to Marvin's visit, the women's expo also will feature award-winning writer and chef Amy Thielen, as well as a Traveling Art Pub, as well as other vendors, seminars and workshops.
