The weatherman still holds a wide lead over the local sports scene despite the return of sunny skies and warmer temperatures.

The second full week since the late March blizzard is nearing an end without a single event played.

And more of the same is on tap this weekend.

The Bemidji High girls golf team had its openers at Perham today and Pelican Rapids tomorrow wiped out when those courses are not ready to open.

The girls will now open next weekend playing The Preserve Thursday, The Pines Friday and The Vintage Saturday.

The boys opener at Detroit Lakes, postponed from Wednesday until today, also was wiped out and now will be played April 17.

The boys JV meet at Detroit Lakes today also has been postponed with no makeup date announced.

That will be their next date since Monday's Alexandria Invitational also has been set back and will now be played May 4.

The track invitational at Sartell has been scrubbed after an attempt to move it indoors at St. Cloud State was unsuccessful. It was finally moved to St. John's University's indoor facility tomorrow, too late for Bemidji to make a travel switch and take part.

BSU may set up another indoor meet for Monday. If so, Bemidji would enter both its boys and girls teams.

The start of the outdoor season will now come April 20 at Moorhead.

Also gone is the softball opener at Little Falls tomorrow, a scheduled triangular with the Flyers and Fergus Falls. No makeup date has been announced and it could be canceled.

The previously postponed Eveleth-Gilbert games will be replayed April 23 at 4:30 with both varsity and JV games on tap. The West Fargo game has been reset for April 16.

BSU had its Wednesday softball twin bill with Duluth postponed and its Thursday home twin bill with St. Cloud also set back. No new dates have been announced.

Still on are double headers with Morris here Saturday and at Mary Sunday.

With the BSU diamonds nearly bare, the Beavers hope to play their NSIC baseball twin bills with Northern State Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday's rescheduled pair at Mary has been canceled

The high school also hopes to host Grand Rapids today in a game previously set for last Monday. It will depend on how quickly the BSU field dries out.

If so, the varsity game would be played there with the JV contest shifted to the BYL North diamond with the city arena field still under snow.

Thursday's postponement with Thief River will be replayed April 23. No date has been set for the Grand Forks Central game from Tuesday.

Also yet to be fully rescheduled is Thursday's tennis triangular with Grand Rapids and Park Rapids. Park Rapids will be here April 16 for a dual match.
