WALKER -- Vehicle traffic on Leech Lake’s Walker Bay will be restricted during the Eelpout Festival because of heavy snow and flooding, officials reported.
The bay will be restricted to snowmobiles and Class 1 and 2 ATVs from 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, through 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. All vehicles must be removed from the ice by 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.
During the restricted times, fish houses may be pulled into the restricted areas by ATVs or snowmobiles. Vehicles will not be allowed in the restricted area, which will be visibly marked, for any reason. Violators will be issued citations and towed from the lake during this period, according to a release.
A map of the restricted area will be posted on the Cass County Sheriff’s Office website, as well as on Facebook and the event’s website.
The Walker City Park Landing and Marine Max Marine landing will be open for vehicle traffic to travel to areas outside the restricted area during the entirety of the event.
