A 1997 Mercury Sable that was reported stolen was found Sunday evening after the driver apparently lost control and rolled the vehicle on state Highway 89.
According to the State Patrol out of Thief River Falls, the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. The vehicle had apparently lost control on the ice, went off the road and rolled.
The State Patrol and Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of the rollover at 7:33 p.m. Sunday.
The vehicle had been reported stolen at 5:36 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report. The owner told an officer that she was missing her keys from her purse and while some of her family members had access to her purse, she would not give their names to police. She declined to have the vehicle taken to a security facility for processing.
The vehicle sustained severe damage.
