ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- A trapper who had not been seen for about three weeks was found dead Friday in a slough near Alexandria.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the 63-year-old man. A conservation officer found the man partially submerged in the water next to a small kayak and trapping equipment, a release from the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies had checked on a residence looking for the man, who a had a history of health issues and had not been seen for about three weeks. After not finding him at the home and learning the man was a trapper, a conservation officer used a kayak to check the slough off East Lake Mary Road southwest of Alexandria.
The body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. The death is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected, the sheriff’s office said.
