BEMIDJI -- Two traffic detours will begin Monday, July 22, for motorists on state Highway 371 through Cass Lake and on U.S. Highway 71 in Park Rapids as highway reconstruction continues on both roadways.

Motorists will have a detour onto Grant Utley Avenue northwest and Railroad Street in Cass Lake. Truck traffic will continue on the truck detour. Drivers in Park Rapids will detour onto County Road 53, Pleasant Avenue and Eighth Street.

The Cass Lake reconstruction project will focus on the part of Highway 371 between highway 2 and the railroad crossing. Resurfacing, trail and sidewalk construction, storm sewer replacement and updated highway lights and signals are a few of the focuses of the project. Park Rapids' construction crews will work on pedestrian accessibility and the creation of a roundabout on Highway 71.

Both projects are set to be completed in October if weather permits.
