HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) _ A Minnesota district court has sentenced a repeat sex offender to life in prison under a law passed in the wake of the Dru Sjodin case.
It's believed to be the first time a court has handed down such a sentence under a law passed by the state Legislature in 2005.
Forty-three-year-old Robert Bollett of Hayward, Wis., was sentenced Thursday in Dakota County District Court.
Bollett pleaded guilty in January to second-degree and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct for incidents involving his girlfriend's two young sons.
District Judge Michael Sovis sentenced him to two concurrent life terms. Bollett will be eligible for parole in 12 years.

Bollett was previously convicted of sexually assaulting three boys in Carver, Scott and Hennepin counties.
Sjodin is the University of North Dakota student who disappeared from a mall parking lot in Grand Forks, N.D., in November 2003.
A previously convicted rapist was convicted in her death. He's on death row in North Dakota.
