BEMIDJI-Various state departments and agencies will host an event for small businesses from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, 201 Third St. NW. The event will focus on small businesses looking to sell products or services to local, state and federal governments.
The class will include a general overview of all levels of government contracting. The topics will include information on what to expect when working with governments, where to look for opportunities, as well as information regarding what certifications are available.
The event also will include information on how to get a vendor ID number; registering to receive notices of state bids and contracting opportunities; how to register in the federal government's acquisition system; the elements that should be included on capabilities statements and business cards; and business etiquette for email addresses.
The event will be hosted by the Minnesota Department of Administration's Procurement Technical Assistance Center, the Office of Equity in Procurement and representatives from state agencies around Minnesota.
