Ruth Marie Baker, age 77, of Bemidji, MN passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji, with Reverend Mark Kindem officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Funeral services are under the direction of the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Clarice Amundson, Vernaye Burford, Elvie and Bev Burnham, Sue Harris and Cleo Schwartz.

Ruth Miller was born on October 2, 1928 in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of George and Anna (Warrington) Miller. The family moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 1943 where she attended school, graduating in 1946. She was employed at the Chicken Bar and was manager of the Huntsville Saddle and Gun Club of East Grand Forks, MN. She returned to Bemidji in 1963, where she was united in marriage to Don Baker. They purchased the Big North Distributing Company in 1963 where she worked until 1998 when she retired.

She was an avid bowler and won many championships and trophies. She was a member of the 800 Club of the Women's National Bowling Congress. She started her bowling career at the Uptown Bowling Alley in Grand Forks with her four sisters as her teammates.

Ruth was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji, MN. Her greatest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren that she enjoyed taking with her out to breakfast. She will be greatly missed by her family and many close friends.

Ruth is survived by three sons: Scott (Sheila) Baker, Bemidji; Max (Shelly) Baker, Wilton, MN and Tony (Tara) Baker, Bemidji; five grandsons: Troy, Craig, Brady, Trent and Tarron Baker; one great-grandson: Josh Baker; two brothers: Larry (Linda) Miller, Bemidji, and David (Doris) Miller, Grand Forks; three sisters: Shirley (Gerald) Anderson, Ann Bakke and Mona (Donald) Brundin, all of Grand Forks; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Bev & Elvie Burnham, Bemidji.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Baker; brothers: George, Harry (Bud) and John (Jackie); and sister Alyce (Peggy) Baker.

Memorials preferred to North Country Hospice, Bemidji.
