BEMIDJI -- Drivers on Minnesota State Highway 46 will encounter a detour on the 10-mile stretch between Northome and Alvwood, beginning Monday, as crews replace two culverts under the highway, officials said Friday.
The detour for the project goes through Blackduck on U.S. Highway 71 and County Road 13, Alvwood Road Northeast. The project is expected to last two weeks, with the detour in place for about a week, weather permitting, according to a release.
Once the detour is lifted, drivers can expect delays and lane closures; flaggers will control traffic through the work zone.
Starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, the city of Bemidji Public Works will be performing work in the area of the railroad crossing include a lane closure of Fifth Street Northwest, Division Street. Only one lane will be available at a time for traffic. Flaggers will be present to slow or stop traffic. Expect delays as a contractor will be grinding off the excess bituminous at the railroad crossing to hopefully reduce the bump over the tracks. The goal is have traffic back to normal within six hours or less, a release said.
