The Red Lake Band of Chippewa has published the preliminary candidate list for the May 17 election.
-- Candidates for chairman are Francis "Chunky" Brun; Floyd "Buck" Jourdain, incumbent; Judy Roy; and Bobbie Whitefeather.
-- Candidates for secretary are Kathryn "Jody" Beaulieu, Rob "Bob" Beaulieu, Don Cook Sr., Stuart Desjarlait, Georgia L. Downwind, Preston H. Graves, Eugene D. "Sonny" Johnson Jr., Joyce (Oliver) Roy, James "Jimmy" White and Donna J. Whitefeather.
-- Candidates for treasurer are LaNae Barrett Pemberton and Darrell G. Seki, incumbent.
-- Candidates for Ponemah representative are Daniel Crowe; Earl Fairbanks; Clifford Hardy, incumbent; Greg J. Kingbird Sr.; Rudy Kingbird; Gary L. Nelson; and Harlan W. Stillday.

If a no candidate in each of the races receives a majority of votes in the May 17 election, the run-off election on July 23, if uncontested, and Aug. 2, if contested.
