EMILY - A pilot escaped injuries Monday morning when the floatplane he was flying crashed on Mary Lake, northeast of Emily, said Lt. Joe Meyer of the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

The pilot was flying from an airport in Buffalo to his seasonal cabin on Mary Lake. The pilot was attempting to land on Mary Lake, when the floatplane crashed and flipped over on the water. It appears the pilot was having issues with the landing gear, Meyer said.

Witnesses saw the plane crash and went out on the water to help the man. The man escaped with no injuries and was brought to shore.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the crash this week.
