HUBBARD COUNTY -- Although an early morning fire damaged much of a mobile home Wednesday, the sole occupant was able to escape without injury, officials reported.

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to the fire in Lake Hattie Township, located south of Becida and northwest of Lake George. The fire was located in the 46000 block of Hubbard County Road 97 and was reported at approximately 3:51 a.m. Bemidji Firefighters arrived and found the front half of the home on fire. The fire caused "heavy damage" to the structure and contents, according to a press release.

The home’s sole occupant heard the smoke alarms and escaped without injury, according to the release.

Twenty three firefighters were on scene with two fire engines, three water tenders, heavy rescue and two support vehicles. The Bemidji Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, although it appears to be accidental. The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Bemidji Fire Department at the scene.
