Mervel "Tiger" Jones Jr., 49, of Onamia, Minn., died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at his home.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake with Steve Jackson officiating. A wake will begin at 1 p.m. today at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake and will continue until the time of service on Monday. Burial will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Dean Fairbanks, Jack Thompson, Jerry LaRose, Bobby Jones, Hinkus Roy, Dan Jones, Pete Jones, Gary Headbird, Mike Johnson, John Crow Smith, Pete Hunt Sr. and Matt Roy.
Pallbearers will be Dan Pewaush, John Bugg, Adrian Bugg, Mike Robinson, Carmen Butler, Robbie Budreau Sr., Blaine Freeman and Jeff Oakgrove.
He was born on May 6, 1957, to Mervel and Rose (LaRose) Jones Sr., in Cloquet, Minn.

He loved fishing, attending powwows, singing, ricing and cooking. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors.
He is survived by wife, Rose Bugg of Onamia; children, Cassandra, Lucy, Mervel and John; brother, Tom Jones; sisters, Sandy Woodward, Veronica Jones, Diane Bakk and Carol Jones; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and a nephew.
