Mazurek wins title of Little Miss Minnesota at pageant

Ariel Mazurek, 9, daughter of Matt and Kari Mazurek of Bemidji, and a third-grader at Northern Elementary, recently brought home the state title of Princess of America Little Miss Minnesota. The Princess of America Minnesota Wisconsin Great Lakes Pageant was held March 16-17 in Bloomington. Girls from all over the region competed for the crown.

Required categories of competition included Interview, Personal On Stage Introduction, Formal Wear and On Stage Question. Participants also had the opportunity to enter the optional categories of Talent, Spokesmodel, Casual Wear, Photogenic, and more.

As a state titleholder, in addition to advancing to the National Pageant Held in Branson, Mo., later this summer, Mazurek receives the official custom crown, banner, trophy, cash award, appearance opportunities, and many other gifts and prizes during her reign, a release said. Winners are also treated to a workshop and photoshoot prior to attending the National Pageant.

The Princess of America Pageant's tagline is "A Crown With A Cause." Titles holders at both the state and national level are encouraged to become actively involved in causes within their communities. Mazurek is passionate about many things including Feed My Starving Children and the Pajama Program, a release said, and she also enjoys fishing, geocaching and swimming.

The Princess of America Organization is a national pageant system based on the development of confidence and leadership skills for girls, ages 4-24, a release said.
