Masel Naomi Edington (Ferrell) Abood, 90, of Bemidji, died on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Wallace, Neb. Burial will be in Morning View Cemetery in Wallace. The Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji and the Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant, Neb. assisted the family with arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Edington, Kent Edington, Luke Edington, Kenneth Erickson, Jerry Erickson and Larry Gibson.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1917, the youngest of seven children to James and Estella Edington, in Dickens, Neb. She went through the eighth grade in Wallace, then, in her later life attained her high school diploma by further studies. She married Merlin Sidney Ferrell of Wallace on Dec. 31, 1932, in Oberlin, Kan. She was three weeks shy of her 16th birthday. They were married 61 years when Merlin died on Feb. 21, 1993. They farmed in Wallace until 1961, when they moved to Northome on a dairy farm. They moved to San Leandro, Calif, in 1963 where he worked at the Lawrence Livermore Lab in Livermore, and she gave piano and organ lessons, sometimes having up to 63 students at once. After he died, she married a mutual friend, Eddie Abood. Five years later, he died.

Then she lived by herself, enjoying her cockatiel, reading, cooking and baking. She was very involved in her church and with her Bible study lady friends there until she decided it was time to live in a care center, and moved to Haven wood Care Center in Bemidji, dying there in about six years.

She is survived by her brother, Virgil Edington of Wallace; children, Boyd Kerwin (Shirley) Ferrell of Blackduck, Kendell Delmar (Carole) Ferrell of Richardson, Texas, and Creanne "Cory" (Richard) Curb of Bemidji; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Clyde and Harold; and sisters, Grace, Ethel and Ruth.
