Mary LaVerne "Susie" Jahr, 90, of Bemidji, died on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at her residence, Touch of Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Bemidji with Rev. Chuck Huck officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji later on this spring.
She was born on April 4, 1916, to Arthur and Bertha (Gorman) Mero, in East Grand Forks, Minn. She grew up in East Grand Forks, where she attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1933. She attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. She worked for Colburn's Business Supply in Grand Forks. She married Vernon "Pete" Jahr on July 3, 1941, in East Grand Forks. They lived in Bemidji where she worked as a case aid worker for Beltrami County Social Services.
She loved needlework, embroidery, knitting and crocheting. She loved books and enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Stan) Diveley of Citrus Heights, Calif.; son, Larry (Pam) Jahr of Banning, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
