Mary A. Doty, 88, of Waubun, Minn, died on Thursday, March 9, 2006, at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo.
A funeral was held Monday at the Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen.
She was born on June 5, 1917, to Michael and Anna (Kohler) Winter in Ogema, Minn. She grew up in the Ogema area and attended Country School District 123 near Strawberry Lake. On July 23, 1942, she married Edward L. Doty in Camp Roberts, Calif. The couple made their home in California where she worked as a nurse's aide at Camp Stoneman. From 1949 to 1954, they lived in Hamilton, N.D. They returned to the Waubun area and she had lived with her daughter for the past 21 years. Her husband died in 1993.
She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies also included quilting and sewing, and cooking and baking.
She is survived by her sons, Maynard (Joan) of Fisher, Minn., Dave (Flossie) of Waubun and Mike (Wanda) of Bemidji; daughters, Judy (Robert) Shaide of Waubun, Jackie (Gary) Hoban of Callaway, Minn., and Shel (Dale) Pazdernik of Waubun; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, Edward R.; three sisters; and four brothers.
