Marvin Lawrence Dobmeier, 67, of Blackduck, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, of cancer at his residence in Blackduck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck with the Rev. Luis Buitron officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service, today at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post No. 372 of Blackduck.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Weichman, Jerry Weichman, Brad Gerads, Korey Dobmeier, Keith Dobmeier and Al Warzecha.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of the Blackduck ISD No. 32 school bus drivers and the American Legion Post No. 372 Honor Guard.

He was born Feb. 5, 1941, to Walter and Florine (Brixus) Dobmeier in Albany, Minn. He moved to Freeport, Minn., where he lived until 1973. He married Bridget Lahr on July 12, 1965, in Sartell, Minn.

He worked for Arnzen Construction in St. Rose, Minn. for many years. Later, he worked for MaGough Construction until 1972. In October 1972, they purchased the Oswald Thielman farm in Blackduck, and moved there in April of 1973. During his years in Blackduck, he operated his dairy farm, was maintenance supervisor at the Northern Pines Nursing Home, and later became a bus driver for the Blackduck School. He loved his job and the children on the bus. His greatest love were his boys and grandchildren. He was proud of all their accomplishments. He was happiest doing his farm work and taking care of his animals. He enjoyed having his grandchildren help him with chores around the farm, and traveling when the work was done.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Marvin (Carmen) of Tenstrike, Leigh of Blackduck and Karl (Terri) of Hines; seven grandchildren; sisters, Dorthy Weichman and Margurite (Joe) Roelike, both of Melrose, Minn.; brother, Donald (Kathy) Dobmeier of Freeport, Minn.; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; and four brothers-in-law.
