MINNEAPOLIS -- A 51-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for stalking a Minnesota woman with connections to Bemidji.

According to a release from U.S. Attorney Erica MacDonald, Desmond George Danial, whose place of residence is unknown, pleaded guilty Nov. 8 to one count of Interstate stalking. His sentence, which was issued Friday, will include three years of supervised release.

Danial, the release said, “repeatedly harassed and threatened his victim, her husband and her family” from August 2014 to March 2018. The story, however, allegedly begins even earlier. Danial was charged and convicted of stalking in Stearns County in 2012. That included a restraining order that prohibited him from contacting his victim.

In spite of that, Danial continued to harass the victim by sending threatening text messages and emails to the victim and her husband, even after she moved to Wyoming, officials said. Danial also reportedly harassed and threatened the victim’s parents who lived in Bemidji.
