FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- A 59-year-old man was recently arrested on charges of raping a 15-year-old girl who worked for him at the Traverse County Fair in summer 1990, court documents show.
Timothy John Solem of Wabasha, Minn., was arrested in southern Minnesota and first appeared in Otter Tail County District Court last week, County Attorney David Hauser said Friday. Solem has had a felony warrant for his arrest since 1991.
Solem was 34 years old on Aug. 31, 1990, the night he held a party for his employees at the county fair in Wheaton, according to a complaint brought forward by the girl's father later that year. Solem worked in the fair's carnival.
That evening, the girl fell in the mud and Solem told her she could take a shower at his place, the complaint said. While she was doing so, Solem entered the shower, touched her breasts, kissed her and pulled her onto the bed where he had sex with her.
Afterward, he forced the girl to perform oral sex on him, the complaint said. She tried to get away, but he pushed her head down.
