BEMIDJI — Dr. Diana Kostrzewski was recently named the chief nurse administrator and associate dean of nursing at Bemidji State University.

Previously serving in an interim dean role at the University of North Dakota since 2019, Kostrzewski was selected for BSU based on her background as an administrator of health care programs in higher education.

“Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Kostrzewski has gained leadership skills and program accreditation knowledge while working across a variety of academic settings,” Dr. Jim White, interim dean of BSU’s College of Individual and Community Health, said in a release. “She brings a wealth of experience to the BSU nursing program.”

Prior to her interim appointment at UND, Kostrzewski was a clinical associate professor and graduate program chair as a member of the college’s faculty since 2018.

Before joining the UND faculty, she served as the assistant vice president of nursing and national dean of nursing for the Minneapolis-based Zenith Education Group and was the dean of nursing at the Denver School of Nursing.

She also held numerous faculty and administrative nursing positions at Rasmussen College, Colorado Technical University, Lake Superior College and the College of St. Scholastica.

She earned her practical nursing degree at the former East Grand Forks Technical College — now Northland Community and Technical College — where she also directed the practical nursing program.

Kostrzewski received her nursing bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and her master’s degree from UND. She also has a doctorate in post-secondary and adult education from Capella University.

In her new role, Kostrzewski will lead and manage BSU’s nursing program while overseeing program accreditation, strategic planning and the development of policies that support nursing faculty, staff and students.
