BELTRAMI COUNTY — A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for first-degree criminal sexual conduct for an incident that took place in 2021 on Upper Red Lake.

According to court documents, Jonathon Isaacson, of Clear Lake, was sentenced in Beltrami County Court on Tuesday to serve 100 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility and fined $1,000 for an incident involving a 14-year-old victim.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 7, 2021, Isaacson was ice fishing on Upper Red Lake with his wife, daughter and his daughter's friend.

The daughter's friend, the victim, said that they were drinking alcohol while in Isaacson’s ice house. According to the complaint, Isaacson touched the victim's chest and also sexually penetrated her with his hand.

The victim said that the total time of the assault was less than two minutes.

After the incident, the victim told her friend, Isaacson’s daughter, what happened. Isaacson's daughter then reported the incident to authorities.

During an interview with law enforcement, Isaacson admitted to sexually penetrating her with his hand.

DNA was gathered from the victim and Isaacson, and testing done by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension showed a match of the victim's DNA on Isaacson’s hand.
