WALKER — Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch recently announced that he will not seek reelection in the 2022 election later this year.

"It is with mixed feelings that I announce I have chosen not to seek reelection in 2022," Burch said in a release. "I will continue to serve the citizens of Cass County as sheriff through my third term, until the end of 2022.

"Law enforcement continues to face many challenges and delivering public safety could not be done without the men and women of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the communities and citizens that support us.

"Serving as sheriff has been an honor and privilege, which I have never taken lightly. Without the committed staff of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, this would not have been possible.

"I am very proud of the dedication and professionalism of our staff and the way they serve all the citizens in our county. We truly are 'keepers of the county.' I would also like to thank the many volunteers that support our mission.
