Bemidji Area Schools names 2 superintendent finalists after first-round interviews

Following a first round of interviews on Monday, the Bemidji Area Schools Board of Education has named two finalists for the district’s superintendent vacancy.

BEMIDJI — Following a first round of interviews on Monday, the Bemidji Area Schools Board of Education has named two finalists for the district’s superintendent vacancy.

Red Wing superintendent Karsten Anderson and Crookston superintendent Jeremy Olson will undergo a second round of interviews beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.

All interviews are open to the public and will be held at the district office.

Two other finalists also underwent interviews on Monday including Bemidji High School Principal Jason Stanoch and Thief River Falls superintendent Donita Stepan.

The finalists were selected from a pool of 11 applicants based on criteria established by the school board.

The superintendent search follows Superintendent Tim Lutz’s retirement announcement at a Jan. 24 school board meeting . His replacement will take the position starting July 1.
