BENA — One person is dead after a house fire broke out early Sunday morning in Bena.
At approximately 12:23 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report of a mobile home on fire on U.S. Highway 2 in Unorganized Township, Bena, according to a release from Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the mobile home engulfed in fire, the release said. The fire was extinguished and a search of the residence was conducted.
One individual was found dead inside the home, and an autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, the release said.
Assisting at the scene were the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Federal Dam Fire Department, Cass Lake Fire Department and Deer River Ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office.
