I've heard a lot of news items saying that Clinton and Obama want to stop big corporations from making profits. That's a misrepresentation, a spin on the true message of the Democratic Party for as long as it's been in existence. The goal is to curtail windfall profits that bleed the little people while the top few walk away with billions ... that's a huge difference!
The reality is that a few top executives from a few major industries, like pharmaceuticals, energy, minerals, our natural resources, agribusiness and defense, etc., earn billions of dollars while the general public spends almost 90 percent of their net income from 40 to 60 hour work weeks on basic necessities to pay for those commodities ... heat, gas, health care.
Why are the big shots taking bonuses and even a few cases of these same companies' top executives taking million-dollar bonuses, then filing bankruptcy, causing thousands of employees to lose their pensions (think of Enron and dozens of others). Big corporations were originally designed to be effective at doing what we cannot do as individuals or small groups, but the tax code and the moral conduct of controlling boards of directors allow a very few at the top to rape the little people. That's the best word for it. Something in this system has got to change, and I think it's the White House.
