Lena Chase, 77, of Cass Lake, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A memorial service will be held from noon to 6 p.m. today at the Bena Community Center in Bena. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bena in the spring. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born May 11, 1930, to Walter Sr. and Tillie (Whitecloud) Chase in Sugar Point, Minn. She attended school in Federal Dam.
She worked for Hennepin County as a surgical instrument aide for more than 20 years until her retirement. She resided in Minneapolis for many years with her daughter before returning home. She enjoyed puzzle books, playing at the casino and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Dalee Ambers; one aunt; brothers, Walter (Nadine) Chase, Arthur Chase, Jerry (Lois) Chase and Joseph (Gladys) Chase; sisters, Hilda Beaulieu, Hazel (Jim) Zimpel and Marilyn (Gary) Hanson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Chase, David Chase and Harry Chase Sr.; sister, Leona Chase; and four nephews.
