DES MOINES, Iowa -- David Nimmo's shorthanded goal 12:31 into overtime Sunday lifted No. 5-seeded Alabama-Huntsville past No. 3-seeded Robert Morris for the College Hockey America tournament championship.
For the second time in the tournament, the Chargers rallied from an early deficit to win. This time they handed the Colonials a 4-0 lead after one period, then scored five unanswered to claim the CHA's automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.
Huntsville fell behind Wayne State 3-0 in Friday's quarterfinal game only to score four straight to advance. Then the Chargers knocked off No. 1-seeded Niagara in the semifinals Saturday.
