House fire in Wilton Sunday

WILTON-No one was injured in a small fire in a house Sunday morning in Wilton.

The Bemidji Fire Department received a call of a fire on the 300 block of Grand Avenue Southwest at 6:50 a.m., according to a release from the department. Upon arrival at the scene firefighters found a light smoke exiting the home and discovered a small fire in the bathroom. Occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms in the home, the release said.

The fire caused an estimated $2,200 in damage to the structure and contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature, the release said.

The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Bemidji Ambulance Service. Firefighters arrived at the scene Sunday morning at 6:58 a.m. with the fire contained by 7:52 a.m.
