BEMIDJI -- Harmony Co-op recently announced they are accepting grant applications for monies to be used for time in the co-op’s community kitchen. Nonprofits can be awarded up to $500 worth of use while individuals and businesses can be awarded up to $300 worth of use.

The purpose of these grants is to help in the development of local food entrepreneurs and products. Funds are limited so applications that are accepted will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The first successful applicant is the farm at Bemidji Community Food Shelf, which is in development of value-added products to sell in the community that will assist them in becoming fully sustainable and to expand their efforts. The farm, which was started two years ago by volunteers and is run on grants and scholarships, grows farm fresh produce.

Applications are open to all and are online at http://www.harmonycoop.com/#!community-kitchen/ce0d or by emailing Lisa Weiskopf, community kitchen manager, at lweiskopf@gmail.com .

The rates for lease are as follows:
