Grover Howard Amundson, 76, of Peshtigo, Wis., formerly of Amberg, Wis., and Pinewoood, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Rennes East Health Care Center in Peshtigo, Wis.

Grover Howard Amundson, 76, of Peshtigo, Wis., formerly of Amberg, Wis., and Pinewoood, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Rennes East Health Care Center in Peshtigo, Wis.

A memorial graveside service will be held in the spring in Pinewood-Dodge Cemetery, Buzzle Township, Beltrami County. The Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1930, to Henry and Ida (Bruun) Amundson, in Pinewood. He attended Noonan Dam School in Buzzle Township and Bemidji High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

After the service, he lived in Illinois where he worked in construction. He married Mary Ann in Illinois. He would also sail, catching ships out of San Francisco, Calif., hauling bombs to Vietnam. He marred Lila in Illinois where he continued to live and to work.

He is survived by his brothers, George (Alvina) Johnson of Clearbrook, Kenneth (Martha) Johnson of North Brook, Ill., and Art (Darlene) Amundson of Bemidji; and sister, Carol (Nicholas) Kersting of Wilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Walter and Bradley Amundson; brother, Bennet Johnson; and a sister-in-law.
