BEMIDJI-There will be a number of family friendly activities to celebrate the New Year in Bemidji.

Different venues in downtown Bemidji will host activities throughout the day on Saturday, Dec. 30, the sixth year of coordinated New Year's activities for families. The events are sponsored and hosted by Bemidji Parks and Recreation, Bemidji Public Library, Beltrami County Historical Society, Calvary Chapel, Harmony Foods Co-Op, Headwaters School of Music and Art and Headwaters Science Center.

The activities include:

• 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.- Headwaters Music and Arts, 519 Minnesota Ave. NW. Instrument petting zoo and face painting. Free.

• 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.-Bemidji Public Library, 509 America Ave. NW. "Magic of the Holidays" magic show with Robert the Magician. Free.

• 10:30 a.m. to noon.-Harmony Natural Foods Co-op, 302 Irvine Ave. NW. Good food for the new year, snack time. Free

• 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.-Headwaters Science Center, 413 Beltrami Ave NW. "NoiseMAKERs" event featuring hands-on "maker" activities including cardboard forts and refreshments. The ball drop will take place at noon. Activities are included with admission to HSC ($7 adults, $6 seniors and military, $5 children (ages 2-11), and children age 2 and younger free).

• 2 to 3:30 p.m.-Sledding and hot chocolate at Library Park (weather permitting). Free. Sponsored by Bemidji Parks and Recreation.

• 4 to 6 p.m.-Beltrami County History Center, 130 Minnesota Ave SW. History Mystery, which is a live action game of Clue for the entire family. Doors open at 4 p.m. Game begins at 4:30 p.m. $20 per person, $15 per BCHS members, Kids 12 and under are free with paid adult. BCHS members can bring a friend for the member price. Space is limited.

• 6 to 7 p.m.- Calvary Chapel, 500 Irvine Ave NW. The community is welcome and invited to a community worship service.
