Gretchen Cynthia Sullivan, 91, of Bemidji, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Neilson Place Care Center in Bemidji.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. David Christensen officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bemidji. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Amy Andrews, Julie Sullivan, Jane Escalante, Mary Smerud and Carrie Edmonds.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dan, Mark, Luke, Andy and Pete Sullivan and Dave Andrews.

She was born on Oct. 24, 1914, to Samuel "Harry" and Bertha (Armbruster) Hull, in Morris, Ill. She was raised and educated in Morris, graduating from Morris High School in 1932. She married Lester T. Sullivan on Oct. 7, 1933, in Morris. They made their home in Morris where she worked at Baum's Department Store for many years. She was very active in church activities at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. She had a beautiful voice and was active in the church choir and sang for many weddings and funerals. They moved to Bemidji when he retired in 1969 after having spent many summer vacations in Bemidji. She worked for a time at Wilson's Clothing Store in Bemidji. They became members of Calvary Lutheran Church where she was involved in Glowing Age, Living Witness, choir, worship circles and the church's women's group. She loved spending time with her family and extended family.

She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and doing crossword puzzles. She was a big fan of the Chicago Bulls, especially Michael Jordan.

She is survived by her sons, David L. (Alice) Sullivan of Green Valley, Ariz., Dennis G. (Cathy) Sullivan of Bemidji and Paul V. Sullivan of Duluth, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Donald and Gordon Hull; sisters, Dorothy Miller and Harriet Campbell; and an infant sister, Thelma Hull.

Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Beltrami Humane Society in Bemidji.
