Twin Cities man accused of recording, sexually assaulting date faces charges from second victim

Jeffrey Mark Eldred

ST. PAUL — A Shoreview man charged with taping and sexually assaulting his impaired date faces new charges in Hennepin County.

Jeffrey Mark Eldred was charged Friday, Nov. 30, with one count of stalking and three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for his alleged treatment of a second woman in Bloomington.

The charges, filed in Hennepin County District Court, come just days after Eldred was charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Ramsey County. In that case, a woman who met Eldred on a dating website said he sexually assaulted her while she slept over at his home in November.

The woman said she was using Eldred’s computer the next morning when she came across 40 videos that appeared to show him sexually assaulting other women in their sleep.

She photographed stills of the videos and turned them over to the Ramsey County sheriff’s office. That’s when authorities say they learned of the second alleged victim in Bloomington.

Authorities went to Eldred’s home with a search warrant and seized his phone.

They found several photos and videos of the woman taken over the course of 10 months. Some were taken while the woman was asleep with her body exposed, and others allegedly showed Eldred sexually assaulting her.

The woman told investigators last week that she was in an intermittent relationship with Eldred over the past year and he often stayed at her home in Hennepin County. But she said she did not know Eldred had taped her without her knowledge.

Eldred contacted the woman on Wednesday and begged her not to press charges, according to the criminal complaint.

She called Eldred while law enforcement recorded their conversation, the complaint said.

Eldred denied having sex with the women or taping them.

Investigators are still examining the videos to see if there are more victims.
