George Frederick Teal, 91, of Cass Lake, died on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his home.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Cass Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eric Hucke, Rev. Paul Larson and Rev. Torger Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the Cass Lake Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
He was born on July 8, 1914, to James and Ethel (Denison) Teal in Euclid, Minn. He was raised on a farm near Mentor, Minn. He moved to International Falls as a young man where he worked in a sawmill as a teamster. In 1930, he went to work for Red Owl Grocery. He met and married Pearl Reiners in 1933. Together they operated Birch Point Resort on Rainy Lake. In 1942, they moved to Cass Lake where they purchased the Red Owl Grocery and started Teal's Super Valu in 1953.
He was a member of the Cass Lake United Methodist Church, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Fred (Connie) Teal; two daughters, Pat (Bob) Lucas and Brenda (Randy Kite) Teal; one brother, Bert Teal; and 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Marlin, David, Beatrice, Florence and Elsie.
