Marilyn Andresen, an employee at Tamarack Court, was presented with a scholarship from the Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation, an association of older adult services professionals.

Andresen, a home health aide who has worked at Tamarack Court/Havenwood Care Center for six years, was presented with the scholarship this month. She is enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program at Northwest Technical College and expects to graduate in December 2010. She will receive an Associate in Applied Science degree and plans to continue in the Registered Nursing Program next fall.

This year, 89 employees working at long-term care facilities across the state applied for a Care Providers of Minnesota Foundation scholarship. Twenty-five applicants received a Foundation scholarship, which will assist recipients in their continued education and practice within the field of long-term care.

The Foundation raises scholarship funds through its annual golf tournament, a silent auction held at the Care Providers of Minnesota convention, and contributions.

"Marilyn has been a valuable employee on our campus," said Susan Thompson, RN, manager at Tamarack Court. "She's been a (certified nursing assistant) at Havenwood Care Center for several years. Now she's recently taken on a new role as a home health aide at Tamarack Court" while also in the LPN program at NTC.
