A forum for local legislative candidates is tonight at Bemidji City Hall.

Sponsored by Citizens for an Informed Electorate, candidates from Senate 2 and 4 and House 2B and 4A will answer questions from the audience starting at 6 p.m.

Candidates include Sen. Rod Skoe, DFL-Clearbrook, and Republican challenger Dennis Moser of Clearbrook; Rep. Brita Sailer, DFL-Park Rapids, and her Republican challenger Dave Hancock of Bemidji; Sen. Mary Olson, DFL-Bemidji, and her Republican challenger John Carlson of Bemidji; and Rep. John Persell, DFL-Bemidji, and his Republican challenger Richard Lehmann.

Candidates will give opening statements, answer questions from the audience, and make closing statements.

The forum will be televised on cable Channel 2.

Moderating the panel are Maggie Montgomery, station manager for KAXE Community Radio, and Brad Swenson, Opinion page/political editor for the Bemidji Pioneer. They will screen questions for appropriateness and duplicity.

CIE is a committee of local citizens interested in having candidates on the Nov. 2 ballot offer their views and issues to the voting public.
