Representatives of the Veterans Home Task Force Richard Anderson, Scotty Allison and Joe Vene, recently met with a group of employees of First National Bank to accept a $50,000 contribution made by the bank. The contribution will be leveraged with a 35 percent local and 65 percent federal match, making the contribution worth $143,000 to build a Veterans Home in Bemidji, a press release said.

With First National Bank being an employee-owned bank, the contribution comes with strong support from the people that work at the bank and live in the Bemidji area community, the release said. The bank proudly states support for their veterans Steve Aultman, Brenda Anderson, Jim Ekstrom and Joe Welle, the release said.

"The $50,000 contribution made by the employee-owned First National Bank of Bemidji is more than a very generous donation," County Administrator Kay Mack said in the release. "Large contributions such as this make a strong statement to the state and federal governments about how strongly this community stands behind a Veterans Home for northern Minnesota, and specifically in Bemidji. We are also touched and impressed that they recognized their own veterans when providing the gift."
