The federal search warrant executed Wednesday at 1499 Anne St. N.W., had nothing to do with Sparby Financial, said Matt Sparby.
Sparby said Friday that he and his staff cooperated with the ongoing federal investigation, but are not involved in the investigation.
"Three secretaries helped them get the files they wanted," Sparby said.
"Sparby Financial Group was included in the search warrant, but upon execution of the search warrant, certain facts were developed which precluded the necessity to search that office," said FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe Friday.
Sparby said he owns the building at 1499 Anne St. N.W., and Realty Executives and Trust Mortgage. He does not own Action Appraisal, which rents space from him. Sparby Financial deals in insurance and investments. The businesses listed by the FBI in Thursday's report are separate entities. Sparby Financial has been in business since December 1995.

"I grew my business on trust and friendship and my reputation means as much to me as my family," Sparby said.
McCabe confirmed Thursday that a federal search warrant had been executed as part of the ongoing investigation, but could not comment further at that time.
The FBI was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
