Hanson benefit Saturday at Bethel Lutheran
BEMIDJI-A fundraiser will be held starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church to benefit Abe Hanson with expenses related to a car accident and the passing of his wife, Hazel.
The benefit starts at 4:30 p.m. with a silent auction, followed by a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. and gospel music at 6 p.m. at the church, 5232 Irvine Ave. NW. Free-will offering to be accepted.
Music will be by Malvik Blue Grass and Philharmonic Bethel.
There also will be a quilt raffle with $1 a ticket or $5 for six tickets.

Ice cream social at Redeemer's
PUPOSKY-Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church at 1214 Durand Road in Puposky, will hold an Ice Cream Social from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature homemade ice cream and pie and there also will be a a craft sale, raffle, silent auction, children's activities and live music. A free-will donation will be accepted.
Final BACM recital on Wednesday
BEMIDJI-The final recital in the Bemidji Area Church Musicians series will feature Jennifer (Paquette) Ellis, piano and harp, at noon Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2508 Washington Ave. SE.
The program will include "Pour le Piano," by C. Debussy, a harp piece, and she will sing an original song. Ellis was a recipient of the BACM scholarship in 2010.
She graduated from Concordia College in the spring of 2014 with majors in both music (piano emphasis) and social work. She and her husband currently live in West Fargo where she works at the Perry Center, a Christian maternity home.
A luncheon will follow the concert with a price to be announced. A free-will offering will be received at the door which is used for scholarships for college music students from the Bemidji area.
Churches switch worship times

DEBS/PUPOSKY-Trinity Lutheran Church of Debs and Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Puposky annually switch worship times. Starting Sept. 6, worship times will be at 9 a.m. at Our Redeemer's and 10:30 a.m. at Trinity.
